Very enjoyable

I actually like Jalizar better than Shelzar, the clear inspiration for Jalizar. I know this is heresy, but hear me out.

Jalizar has a fun, bizarre in spots, history. I enjoyed the way it was told, and look forward to revealing a bit at a time. There is a huge secret in Jalizar, which finding out about and facing would make an epic campaign.

There are some new edges and hindrances, designed mostly for a native.

I enjoyed the GM tips and information on the factions and how to make a location memorable.

The sewers get a well deserved chapter.

Even if you don't want to run a Beast and Barbarians game, I'd really consider picking this up to drop in another fantasy world. It's that good.

GRAmel put out a great supplement for Beasts & Barbarians. This is no splat book, but a great addition of setting and lore for your B&B game. Even if you never end up using it, it's a fun read.

About the Author
James Trefil is the Clarence J. Robinson Professor of Physics at George Mason University. He has made contributions to research in elementary particle physics, fluid mechanics, medical physics (including cancer research), and the earth sciences and has written extensively about science for the general audience. He has recently completed a term as General Councilor of the American Physical Society and was awarded the prestigious Gemant Prize of the American Institute of Physics for his efforts to present science to the general public.

Robert M. Hazen is the Clarence J. Robinson Professor of Earth Science at George Mason University and Staff Scientist at the Carnegie Institution of Washington Geophysical Laboratory. He performs research on materials at high pressure and is studying the hypothesis that life arose in a deep, high-pressure environment. He is the author of more than 230 articles and 16 books on science, history, and music. A Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, he has received numerous awards for his science writing.

Very good conceptual textbook, but lacks the mathematical aspects of Physics

As a means of introducing concepts and applications of Physics, this textbook is spot on. However, in an attempt to "keep the textbook focused on practical everyday uses of Physics," there is a significant lack of calculations. While it does give some basic equations for each chapter, they are typically straight forward and general, and only encompasses a select few of the equations that a student would use in a Physics class. In other words, a physics teacher will not be able to conduct a legitimate physics class teaching only out of this book. Aside from that, the questions for each section are very good at testing understanding of concepts (there are only 1 or 2 "stupid" questions in the entire book), and the problems (although limited due to the reasons mentioned above) are sufficient.

One looking for a more intensive textbook (for AP course, ect.) would be better off with a text such as Physics by Giancoli.

My professor told us that this books is going out of print, which is a shame, cause it's a great textbook: it's easy to read, it's understandable, all the while being scientific.

He is also on the editorial board of the Journal for the Study of the Historical Jesus.

An Important Angle on the Historic Jesus

Scholars tend to avoid discussion of Jesus miracles. And Jesus exorcisms are discussed even less. But this book establishes it was a common practice in ancient Judea. A review of Greco-Roman and Middle-Eastern literature on the topic establishes a historical backdrop for the accounts in the Gospels.

But Twelfetree makes a more important contribution by using higher-critical tools to validate some of the accounts in the Gospels. From there, he draws a contrast between Jesus method and those of other exorcists from his time. This leaves important clues to Jesus self-understanding and purpose in ministry. I enjoyed this book very much.

A truly break through study - a scholarly inquiry into how sunstantial the ministry of exorcism was to the advance of Jesus' mission. Is it correct to say that the gospel is not being fully proclaimed without confrontation with evil spirits? I think Dr.Twelftee has made a persuasive case for the importance of Jesus as an exorcist.

Love, love, love this book

I first found Alamelu on TV doing the cooking program associated with her books. I loved the simple way she described the ingredients and methods of cooking. For someone that is not of Indian nationality; although I absolutely love the food, I found all of the ingredients and methods intimadating. Watching Alamelu, I knew I could do this. I bought the book and was right. The food is simple, straightforward and delicious! I must add that I sent the author a note and was pleasantly surprised when I received a personal email back from her thanking me for the note. Now that doesn't happen very often! Very nice lady; great book!

Well worth the money.

I watched her show on PBS and tried some of her recipes and liked them. I thought I would give one of her books a try. I'm glad I did. Some of the terms are unfamiliar and new to me, but there is a glossary at the front of her book that is helpful. After I exhaust these recipes, I hope to try another one of her books.

As for the comment about not many recipes, that reviewer must have just sampled the book. The purchased copy is full of recipes!

His previous books include Global Capitalism: Its Fall and Rise in the Twentieth Century; Debt, Development, and Democracy: Modern Political Economy and Latin America, 1965-1985; and Banking on the World: The Politics of American International Finance; and he is the co-author or co-editor of many other books on related topics. His articles on the politics of international economic issues have appeared in a wide variety of scholarly and general-interest publications.

This is one of the best single volume texts on international relations out there. It is theoretically driven and largely absent much of the pontificating most critics see (or look for) in scholarly work. If you want bias or political opinion in your class room, this is the wrong place to look. The authors present challenging theories in the form of: rational choice; game dynamics; demographic and environmental shifts; conflict; socio-economics; and trade. All of the theory, while difficult to digest at first glance, is discussed in text with an historical example that walks the reader through the logic of the argument. This is a strong book for an introduction international relations class. Highly recommended.

A wonderfully illustrated and factual book!

I just love this book. It is a treasure trove of information and history regarding the Norfolk/Norwich samplers. The pictures are beautiful and clear, helping the reader to see the intricate details of these lovely samplers. The book is well made and well worth the price. I highly recommend it to the sampler historian or sampler enthusiast -- both will be very pleased.

I love this book! I am learning much about the Norfolk sampler "style" of motifs. The photographs are excellent and the commentary very interesting. I highly recommend this book to antique sampler enthusiasts.

I love the book, but it wasn't wrapped very well. The end of the spine was really dented. Very little protection on the overall book.
