Derek is very dedicated in educating people about the benefits of medicinal marijuana. Too many people are dying from preventable and curable diseases. Derek wrote "The Medical Marijuana Guide. NATURES PHARMACY." to help people make a recovery. The book flowed out of him like a river of consciousness but it took many years of research and development to bring this book together. The first book he read on the subject was "The Marijuana Guide." written by three scientists back in 1972. At that time scientists discovered five cannabinoids with medicinal benefits. Over the years, scientists have discovered over five hundred compounds with medicinal benefits. Scientists have also recently discovered the endocannabinoid system, a communications network that sends and receives chemical messages thru out the body. The endocannabinoid system regulates how we think, feel and behave. The endocannabinoid system is the most important scientific medical discovery of our time and this information is being suppressed by Health Canada and the medical community. A mature investigation of Medicinal Cannabis

As a patient I have learned a great deal from from Chef B's new book. It bypasses all the stereotypical stoner cliches' and approaches the subject matter with the seriousness and respect those using cannabis for medicinal reasons deserve. The book contains historical, scientific and culinary information that may be unknown to those who have inadvertently found themselves ill and in need of pre-western plant based medication. The recipes are a delightful supplement to Derek's YouTube cooking show. Don't think you're only getting the played out pot brownie but rather there is a pantheon of varied foods for those who must medicate often and do not wish to have a one note diet. What impressed me most was the subject of juicing non-psychoactive / non-decarboxylized cannabis leaves for continued health maintenance. As a long term patient I was surprised to find out something I was completely unfamiliar with. Pros and neophytes alike will enjoy Nature's Pharmacy.

(Clix Hemp from youtube) -if you can get past the many spelling errors and the grammar mistakes this book is pretty awesome. What I respected most about it is how it listed cannabis as a possible treatment for "premenstrual syndrome". When looking around in the cannabis community there is very little discussion about woman, their periods, and medical cannabis as a treatment. Mostly because when looking for a treatment for pain relief or an ease of mood swings women are only recommend strictly on hormonal treatments and later on if worsened, surgery. Even though the description was brief it had said more than enough. This book gave me a lot of information on natural remedies for the use of the raw plant as oppose to just getting high. It opens up options rather than just trending and I really liked that about it. It was a great purchase and a great read overall. It opened up my eyes to new possibilities and even a bit of hope for future treatment.

I found Dereks book to be extremely informative and very helpful. Empowering to say the least. I've a son with a seizure disorder where he loses consciousness for up to 6 hours at a time and i also had a sister die from a seizure disorder. I know this will work thanks so much Derek for the great book and video links. I wish i had known this before to help my sister and friends who have passed from seizure, cancer and blood disorders. Can't wait for your next book. Thank you for helping people care for themselves.

makes the Prophecies of Daniel and Revelation Clear

The author obviously spent a lot of time researching and documenting the facts that he shares in this two volume series of books on the Prophecies of Daniel and Revelation.
Men and women of all ages, from all church denominations, have attested that once they read this book, their is no doubt that the interpretations given for end time prophecies are accurate.
This book will inspire you, give you greater confidence in the Bible, and will make the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation so clear, that you will be able to teach them to your freinds yourself!

Adequate exposition

I have both volumes of God Cares, covering Daniel and Revelation. Maxwell does a good job of providing background information one really needs to understand prophecy. This is invaluable. I don't agree with all of his interpretation however. For example in interpreting Daniel 8:13,14 Maxwell vehemently denies the possibility that The "little horn" could be Antiochus Epiphanes. He evidently has to support his Seventh Day Adventist theology. This aside, I would recommend God Cares for Maxwell's competent treatment of history in understanding Prophecy.

SUMMARY:

Cadie Calhoun Wade is having a helluva week. She's the Thing of Honor for her sister's wedding. She's finalizing her divorce. The neighbor's dog keeps stealing into her house and treating her feet like a salt lick. And it's a certain anniversary for a day that still stays with her, even a year later.

Her childhood best friend is also back in town. And not any ol' friend, either. Bo Garrett just happens to be the most famous action hero in the world.

And boy, has Bo missed his Cadie! They parted on such dumb, stupid, moronic terms. And now that he's back in Phoenix to get some outside shots for his latest alien flick, he's not about to let her slip away again. Of course, his agent only has dollar signs in his eyes and thinks Cadie's no Angelina. Bo's sisters have a bit of a vendetta against her, too.

With the week Cadie's having, she wonders if it's just too much. That they just weren't meant to be.

Which means Bo needs to work overtime to convince her otherwise. Luckily, an action star knows when and how to flash his smile and his muscles. And when to let the heart do the talking instead.

Especially when it comes to the girl who was his biggest regret.

Read...Don't Regret

I enjoyed this romance. I was sad to see the epilogue promised at the end is not released yet so I will have to check back for that to get some closure. Bo & Cadie were friends in HS, after their best friends death Cadie stands Bo up at prom, Bo leaves Arizona makes it big in Hollywood and comes home to shoot a movie and win the girl he never forgot back. Cadie, married a huge jerk out of HS and when this book starts she is waiting on her divorce papers to come. There were several moments of laughs and some sorrow that hit a little close to home for me. There wasn't a lot of smut so it was a good clean romance. Thankfully Bo & Cadie had history, otherwise the love in a week thing wouldn't have worked for me. I am excited to see if Sera, Cadies sister, finds love even if I spent 90% of the book not caring for her. She redeemed it towards the end.

-Update- The Author personally emailed me about the epilogue being finally live- LOVED IT and thought the personal followup was amazing!

Funny and emotional read

Here is what I loved:

1. Characters I cared about- I liked the male and female protagonists
2. We were left with a bit of mystery about why Cadence and Bo went their separate ways 10 years ago
3. It was funny as hell!
4. There was a deeper emotional component one doesn't find in many shorter romance novels. A really difficult situation was dealt with honesty and care. (That will make more sense after you read the book.)
5. There was enough 'drama' around these two people trying to find their way back to each other that we didn't need a lot of outside drama mucking the whole thing up!

a fun quick read

after a bit of a slow beginning, I thoroughly enjoyed this. once I got past the build-up I finished it in one sitting. the slow build isn't necessarily a negative, but compared to the way the rest of the story moves it felt slower to me.
the style and humor reminded me a bit of Rachel Gibson's hockey novels. it had the same feel. the old high school girlfriend/average type woman and the big sports star (in this case action star) overcoming their past to finally get together.
in this case we have Cadie (who's name kept reminding me of Cadie Woodlawn) and Bo. Cadie is a soon-to-be divorcee of a jerkwad washed up football has-been. and boy is he a jerkwad. the typical super selfish pretty much abusive I'm better than everyone guy you want to kick in the goods. even though he's not much in the book the little he is makes you want to punch him. when they married Sawyer took over all the decisions for Cadie. from painting the house, to quitting her job, to furniture, Sawyer called the shots. until the one time he didn't cover his tracks so well and Cadie had the grounds for a divorce.
enter Bo. Bo is Cadie's old high school love. the one that she never got over. he's now made a huge name for himself as an action movie star. Bo is back in town for a movie shoot and just "happens" to bump into Cadie when she's running a Bachelorette Party for Sera, her sister. (Aside, Sera is a selfish twit, but I actually liked her a bit better than Cadie and felt more for her.) Bo, who also never got over Cadie, takes advantage of their "accidental" meeting and cons Cadie into at least three dates over the upcoming week.
my biggest complaint about Cadie is that she let's people railroad her. it's easier for her to go along with the decisions other people make so she does. admittedly she fights when it gets important, but it made me like her less. With Bo, my complaint is that he gives up to easily. when things don't go his way, at least with Cadie, he gives up and goes off to feel sorry for himself.
I would also have liked a bit more history of the two of them. we got references to a high school death that ultimately drove them apart, but no details (I'm thinking this is in the first of the series?). it isn't integral to the plot, but I would have liked a bit more background.
the story is quick moving, light, and fun. the perfect easy beach or vacation read. there's a lot of drama, quirkyness, and humor thrown all around (cat poop hoarding, hee). my absolute favorite part was Sera's wedding scene. Sera comes into her own in this part and I just loved it. there are some great lines in that scene too.
I haven't read the epilogue yet, so I can't comment on that, but overall I quite enjoyed His Favorite Regret. I plan on grabbing Sera's story when it comes out and hope she's the same flakey/quirky/sarcastic character she is in her sister's story.

Administering Successful Programs

Galbraith, M.W., Sisco, B.R., & Guglielmino, L.M. Administering Successful Programs for Adults: Promoting Excellence in Adult, Community and Continuing Education. Krieger Publishing Company, Malabar, FL, 1997. Pp. vii + 187. When the opportunity to review a book written by three acknowledged professionals, in not only adult educational instruction, but also in research and publication, the expectation of quality would seem foreseeable. In this case, the expectation was a reality. From the "Preface" to the final chapter, the student is presented with a clear, concise, and literary explanation, of a relevant and timely topic, the administration of programs. To often, authors of scholarly texts, find it necessary to use professional language, understandable only by experts in the discipline or subject matter. This is not the case with this publication. The text was written and published with current, or "would be", administrators in mind. The primary goal of the authors is to convey a basic understanding of the administrative process. The authors of Administering Successful Programs for Adults, include in their "Preface", an excellent synopsis of the book. The text has nine chapters. Chapter 1 is concerned with and titled the "Administrator". This chapter "...examines the settings and contexts in which the administrative role is carried out", and includes "...a self-assessment inventory that allows", students to discover pertinent knowledge about themselves (p.viii). Chapter 2, "Approaches to Administration", is just that. The authors examine, "The classical, human relations, organization behavior, contingency, and systems perspectives..." and "...their appropriateness for adult, community, and continuing education" (p.viii). In Chapter 3, "Determining Program Content", they address "...the administrator's role and involvement in the process of determining program content", with an emphasis on the macro approach. "Budgeting and Financing" are the topics of Chapter 4. Different types of budgets are discussed, along with "...useful tips on how to develop a successful budget..." and "...and how to augment funding..." (p.viii). Chapter 5, "Selecting and Developing Staff", explains that this "...is an essential function of administrators in adult, community, and continuing education agencies and organizations" (p.viii). A plan is presented which includes ideas on role identification, selection, and development, of staff. "Marketing and Public Relations", "Chapter 6, is dedicated to the understanding of marketing and the essential elements of a marketing plan and promotional strategies" (p.ix). Chapter 7, "Evaluating Programs", "...is devoted to the process of evaluating programs for adult", and includes suggestions on "...the design and application of an evaluation plan" (p.ix). "Legal and Ethical Considerations", is the subject of Chapter 8. These include, "...affirmative action and equal employment opportunity guidelines..." as well as information about "...the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990..." and "...ethical dilemmas confronting the administrator..." (p.ix). Chapter 9 is concerned with "Maintaining Effectiveness As an Administrator", "...through professional development of yourself and others" (p.ix). It "...concludes with a brief annotated listing of resources found to be particularly helpful in ensuring administrative and organizational success" (p.ix). This content summary presents a view of the explicit and concise style of this text. Administrating Successful Programs for Adults was written as an introductory text or primer, to be used and perused by "would be", new, or existing administrators. It will not replace Niccolo Machiavelli's, The Prince. It will, because of its condensed or abbreviated style, be a useful tablet. The theme of each chapter is clearly developed and the included "Summary" is a definite plus. There are an adequate, not an overpowering, number of explanatory tables, models and charts. The numbering system for these items, at the bottom, rather than the more common placement at the top, seemed awkward. The documentation and referencing of source and contemporary or companion literature is complete and aptly supplemented by the brief but sufficient annotated listing included in Chapter 9. Fortunately, which is not always the case in referenced material, the authors documentation, in this text, does not interrupt or detract from the intended subject matter. There is nothing unique about the organization or presentation of the information available, or the written prose, in Administrating Successful Programs for Adults, except that the style and substance could be used as an example of plain English. This style, one of clarity, not circumlocution, is not found, often enough, in academic publications. We live in a world of administrating and administrators. In order to progress and prosper, we must continually create and implement compromise. It is extremely difficult to reach a position where compromise is a possibility, much less a reality, without administrative assistance. The use of this text can assist in making compromise a possibility. I fear that the authors have, unwittingly, underestimated their audience. They have proposed, that "...adult, community and continuing educational programs for adults"(p.x), might benefit from this publication. These are, for me, the underestimated audience. The general resource nature of this volume, its ability to present the administrative process in broad strokes, and in clear and plain vocabulary, make it a viable and usable document, for this every growing and demanding group of learners and activists. These groups, adult, community and continuing educational organizations, must have access to the administrative expertise that will lead them in the direction of compromise, if they are to be the positive and productive force they should and intent to be. Many adult, community and continuing educational texts address the concept of the "Critical Thinker". The essence of "Critical Thinking" is very clear explained in Administering Successful Programs of Adults. I consider the process of "Critical Thinking", a clear and detailed road to reaching compromise, a result desired by any progressing administrative program. Although administering compromise, is only one of many important concepts included in this text, I find this example, a sterling explanation of why, I believe the authors attained their goal, of publishing a book and thereby providing a primer for, easy access to knowledge of the administrative process.

Deep, detailed, and definitely worth owning + exploring

Having worked closely with Shakti both as a student and a client since 2010, I can say this workbook is a beautiful conglomeration of some of her most inspiring teachings that includes personal shares from Shakti as well as other of her real life students, clients, and colleagues. In this way, the initiation that the book takes you through feels like a communal experience -- that the Circle of All Women is holding your hand as you journey and journal your way into and through the layers of self-judgment, limitation, and recrimination about sexuality that may have previously characterized your experiences. If you have ever wanted to get beyond the limitations of the sexual conditioning you grew up with and arrive at a place of intimate connection with your body, your mind, your emotions, and beyond, this book definitely shows the way. I found it to be written in an encouraging tone, with enough practicality for my left (Masculine) brain and enough spirituality & creative exercises for my right (Feminine) brain. I'm so enchanted by this book that I'm making it required reading for my own students and clients.

a complete course guide for your circle of women

My friend showed me this book with such enthusiasm that I bought a copy for myself. I skimmed through, seeing the deep value of it. It is written as a course guide so that we women can facilitate circles using the book as the curriculum (or solo,too). Since we are living in the shadow of the Patriarchy, women's natural sexuality has been altered, shut down, pinched, stunted, etc.... The sacred link has been severed. Beginning with learning to love your body and become sensitive to the energies flowing through it, practicing with this book will help reunite a woman with her natural sacred sexuality. My friend and I now have a Shakti Circle formed and we are using the book to guide our studies and practices. We both have had many years of studying with Tantra teachers and their books. What makes this one really stand out is how it is written with such sensitivity and respect as well as being in the format for facilitating a circle. Thank you, Shakti Malan for giving us just what we needed!

this workbook guides you through exercises for awakening of kundalini energy. it is powerful. Shakti Malan is an incredible teacher and her style of writing is just as feminine, strong, insightful, compassionate and loving as she is.
